US Salary Data

About and methodology

What this site publishes

US Salary Data publishes occupational wage and employment estimates for selected major U.S. metropolitan areas. Every salary page is backed by a record in the latest BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics release.

How pages are selected

We select a limited set of commonly searched occupations and metro areas. A page is published only when mean pay, median pay, the 25th and 75th percentiles, and a national median comparison are available. Suppressed or missing BLS values are never treated as zero.

How comparisons are calculated

The percentage comparison is calculated as: metro median minus national median, divided by national median, multiplied by 100. Text on each page is produced from these structured values using deterministic rules.

Important limitations

OEWS estimates describe occupations and geographic areas, not individual compensation. Actual pay varies by employer, experience, specialty, and other factors. This site is independent and is not an official U.S. government website.
